Mental Training/Activities For Youth
It is important that youth learn the skills and tools to deal with pressures that arise from different stressors they face. Not only this, but it’s extremely beneficial if youth can start incorporating some of these practices and activities at a young age so that when they face challenges they have the skills and tools to deal with them.
Here are some skills and activities for youth
Homemade stress balls
Get balloons and fill with flour/sand
Kids draw faces in them
Use when stressed, way if releasing stress anxiety
Coping skills cards (count to ten, listen to music, talk to a friend)
Paper booklet with a ring
Kids make it into book
Can go back to these coping skills as a reminder when feeling stressed
Inspiration stones
Paint stones with an inspiration word on it
Kids can paint and decorate them
Self-Confidence Sun
write down positive affirmation words about yourself on clothes pins
cut out a circle of paper and colour it yellow
put clothes pins around the circle of paper to make a sun
